The Sandy Paradise
Lopar is a picturesque locality, only 14 kilometres from the mediveal heart of Rab. It is located on an island peninsula with prehistoric Zidine, Liburnian castles and burial mounds scattered around the area. Lopar is a valuable historic site and the native place of St. Marin, a stone carver and founder of the Republic of San Marino. Lopar is surrounded by numerous bays and as many as 22 sandy beaches. The best known stretch of sand is Crnika – Rajska plaža, spread out over 1.5 km of shore. Lopar also hides a unique natural phenomenon – the underwater cave Medova buža which is the habitat of the Mediterranean monk seal.
